Requirements and design of powertrains for eVTOLs
The future of passenger transportation could be revolutionized by electric Vertical TakeOff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft! Numerous companies are actively working on developing these innovative flying machines and are on the verge of commercialization.
VIRTUAL VEHICLE and TU Munich have jointly published an article in the professional journal e+i, which delves deeply into the requirements, trends, and key aspects of eVTOL propulsion. Topics such as batteries, electric motors, thermal management, and HV circuits are the main focus. Particularly important is the optimization of the overall system in terms of weight, energy efficiency, and safety.
Thanks to our many years of experience in the field of electric drivetrains for road vehicles, we have successfully transferred our knowledge to eVTOLs. With TU Munich, we have found a strong partner to realize exciting future research projects in the aviation sector.
Stay tuned for developments and innovations!
