Railroad switches are a critical component of the railroad infrastructure. During a passing operation, energy is introduced into the vibrating system at the rail switch due to dynamic interaction of the vehicle and track. This results in noise and vibration. The project starts at the source of noise and vibration and takes the holistic approach by considering noise and vibration sensitivities in rail switches.
